Great concert

April 15, 2006

I took part in a wonderful concert tonight. The Choral Arts Society of Washington performed the Mozart Requiem to a sold out crowd of near 2,000, and the combination of rousing music, eager musicians and an enthusiastic crowd made for a memorable performance. It’s hard to explain how happy I am when I’m on stage in a group, singing my little heart out. It’s the culmination of months of preparing and thinking about the text and wondering how to sing it just right. And then… you’re there, and the show’s a hit, and the next day BOOM, it’s gone.

Handel’s Alexander’s Feast — once. Mozart Requiem — once. It makes me long for those times when we give the audience three opportunities to hear a piece, and us three times to sing it.

Until next time

April Fool’s Day Joke

April 3, 2006

I replaced my roommate’s handsoap with something decidedly more amusing. Check it out!

Did you do anything fun for April Fool’s Day? Did anyone do something fun to you? Leave it in the comments…

Lightning Reaction… Extreme!

April 2, 2006

Imagine a game in which concentration, speed, and agility matter above all. Imagine a game that lets you electrocute your best friends, make new friends, and electrocute them too. Imagine a world in which people run not from danger but TOWARD it.

Is this the world of tomorrow? Oh no — this is the world of today! I present to you, my friends, Lightning Reaction Extreme! I found this little gadget on a Web site called “ShockingFun.com”, and I can attest that the name is accurate. This video examines our first days with the little device.

Who will outlast whom? Will Gweep endure several low-intensity shocks? Will Matt reign supreme? Or will an unexpected challenger be declared the winner?

Just click Play and find out…..

(FYI, this is a 14 minute video — a little TV-show, if you will. I have edited it down for conciseness. It is snappy and fun and entertaining. Please don’t complain to me, a la some people, that it’s “waaaay too long”; just watch it. Trust me.)

The birds are NOT chirping…

March 30, 2006

Tell me the birds are not chirping outside my window. Tell me I haven’t stayed up all night working on this thing. Tell me I can sleep. Tell me the chirping won’t keep me up. TELL ME PLEASE.

March 25, 2006

This is what I do for fun on a Friday night.

a thriving business

March 20, 2006

The way i see it, there are hundreds, maybe MILLIONS of people with sweeties out there. So in honor of love and capitalism, I hereby present the newest T-shirt in the liquidSchwartz.com lineup:

Any takers? :-) Honestly though, while I am saccharine enough to design this shirt, I don’t think I’ve got the mettle to actually wear it.

Stress

March 16, 2006

The biggest problem with law school is the sheer amount of work the professors expect of their students. Just when you have worked 20 hours on a weekend to finish a 14 page doublespaced fact section that required going through literally two thousand doublesided pages of factual record spanning back ten years, you get assigned another daunting research task with a deadline of next week. It never ends. And any temporary pleasure you feel at the completion of one task — any tiny modicum of relief you may have as the weight is taken off your shoulders — quickly vanishes as the Gods place another giant boulder on your back and demand that you roll it uphill. By Wednesday. Even though you have two other boulders to roll uphill by Monday and Tuesday.

It never ends.

Pictures of Crumpled Love

March 12, 2006

Until I can sum up some words to do justice to the passing of Faz, everyone’s favorite Ann Arbor pizza delivery guy, I will provide you, my stately fans, with More Pictures. :-)

Sweetie is all Woman. The curves, the peaks, the valleys, and the way she just kind of blends into the rumpled up blanket… waiting for something… but what? This is Crumpled Sweetie and I love her.

I am all Man. The red hair, the fuzzy beard, the glasses I stole from her over lunch and wouldn’t give back because they’re Just So Vintage Cool… and he is smiling at something… but what? This is Sunglasses Matt and she loves him.

Cooped up

March 10, 2006

72 degrees and sunny in Washington right now and I am COOPED UP INSIDE STUDYING FOR THIS STUPID MPRE! And it’s not like I can get out this weekend either; I’ll be doing document review. This next week is looking no better. When will it end, dear God, when will it end!
